Blog

Jan 22. 2012: Oh yes... I've decided to get back into writing a blog. Let's see where this goes...

The struggle in the past has been based on this question...'to be plugged in or not'? I am here to say that for me, remaining plugged in does not, in any way shape or form, support my creative process. It's a major diversion and often a dulling mechanism to my muse and her senses.

How can we manage to stay linked in to this enormous mass of technology that society has become and still remain free to flow when creative spirit hits us?

This is my everyday question.

I remain committed to staying away from this blasted machine until after 10am. Used to be 12... but life's changed. Also, I do not have a smart phone, so I'm less effected by the constant bombardment of email.

I also spend time walking outside- everyday. Remaining plugged into nature is far more important to me, than staying plugged into the internet. And I journal, doesn't matter how long. I just do it. Sometimes its a poem, sometimes its pages of nonsense. It's all valuable.

So, with this return of the blog... Here goes my first entry in 2 years.

Jan 27. 2012: What a fantastic experience!! Performance painting at Port City Java. It was a full house while live music, poetry and percussion took place right besides me. I moved and grooved to the music with wet paint on my hands.

Inspired by small blocks of photography adhered to the canvas, I let my creative genius flow through me, mixing simple primary colors literally in the palms of my hands to create shades of pink, orange, green, purple and more! Large flakes of gold mica finished off the thick texture of this painting, titled 'Tweed'.

The finished piece now hangs in R.O.I Salon in Raleigh, NC. A great day with the muse!
