In 2001, Annelies took up metalsmithing in the mountains of NC and began exploring her ability to sculpt with mediums other than hair. This resulted in the production of a wide variety of works and several successful copper sculpture art shows including the Fearrington Village Sculpture Show , Sweet Tea and the Visual Art Exchange.

Although she is not currently working in this medium, many of her copper pieces can be seen displayed around Raleigh in businesses such as Moving Mantra yoga studio and Tasca Brava restaurant.
